Notes on Style and Fashion

Oh la la!

Posted on: August 25, 2007

Style and French chic go hand-in-hand. With a language that has more than one word for “scarf” (écharpe, châle, foulard), and in a country that dictates more than one way to wrap it, Parisian chic still manages to come off as effortless. Those high-waist pants with that slim men’s undershirt with those peep-toe pumps with that large tote is all very deliberate, but to the person looking it appears as though the chic fille, ultra-feminine as it were, simply rolled out of bed and threw together a look worthy of a slow, admiring appraisal. There’s a flirtatious femininity, a romanticism with an edge, to many of the pieces that French designers create which make the clothes oh-so desirable.

la fashionista has had an interest in fashion and style since childhood when she first saw her mother dress in the various fashion of the 80s. Her mother was also a great seamstress, which was a definite influence on la fashionista's foray into fashion. Sadly, her mother's sewing talent did not get passed on to la fashionista.

But that doesn't mean that she doesn't still love talking about fashion. Because she does!
