Notes on Style and Fashion

This show’s a keeper

Posted on: September 7, 2007

Tonight was the debut of Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style on Bravo. There are not enough words in the English language to express how much I respect Tim Gunn’s thoughts on style. I even bought his book this summer. He’s quite the erudite fellow. The show, in my opinion, is a bit different than the average makeover show.

For starters, he got Catherine Malandrino, a designer whom I admire. Then there’s the overall advice that Tim gives the candidate. He’s not catty like his Queer Eye… and What Not to Wear (US version) counterparts, which I find welcoming. However, there is Veronica Webb who does bring out the claws, but even still, I found myself enjoying this show. Seeing what La Webb will have on in each shot is, at the very least, worth the price of admission.

It’s a show that I know that I will find myself tuning into each week.

la fashionista has had an interest in fashion and style since childhood when she first saw her mother dress in the various fashion of the 80s. Her mother was also a great seamstress, which was a definite influence on la fashionista's foray into fashion. Sadly, her mother's sewing talent did not get passed on to la fashionista.

But that doesn't mean that she doesn't still love talking about fashion. Because she does!
