The Cannes Film Festival officially began last week, and in honor of the locale–Cannes is between Nice and St. Tropez in the South of France–let’s take a look at some great fashionable wear for the beach. Whether the goal is to hit up the local boardwalk or to take a trip to Miami, you still want to look great. After all, you don’t have to go to Cannes to still look styling.
Courtesy of Polyvore (my new fixation), I created a fashion spread of beach items for my imaginary magazine, notes on style.

New York Fashion Week is well underway. Many designers have brought their creations out for fashion-minded folks to ogle, to write about, to contemplate purchasing, or simply to purchase. Thus far, I’ve perused the designs of Adam Lippes (ADAM), Badgley Mischka, Erin Fetherston, BCBG Max Azria, Charlotte Ronson, and Lela Rose. From the looks of things, by spring cinched waists will have hits its stride, as witnessed in BCBG Max Azria’s, Lela Rose’s, and Charlotte Ronson’s shows. As we know, attention to the waistline brings about a decidedly feminine silhouette.
With ADAM (and Lela Rose), there are billowing dresses in sophisticated grays or bold colors (perfect for locations like South Beach, the Hamptons, and Côte d’Azur). And, looking at Erin Fetherston‘s collection, gray was the theme, while Badgley Mischka’s accessories caught my eye. The pair is normally known for their red-carpet worthy designs, but this time the shoes and the bags are covet-worthy.

I freely admit that I don’t know what I would do without my bags. From over-sized totes to tucked-beneath-the-arm clutches, I never leave home without a bag in hand. This fall will be no exception. There are myriad designs available to carry one throughout the season.
